Futura PT Mono expands the Futura PT type system with two true monospaced styles. Adapting the family to a fixed-width structure resulted in a different balance of proportions. For example, round uppercase letters became narrower and closer in character to the Condensed styles, while round lowercase forms remain closer to the standard-width designs. This interplay of proportions gives Futura PT Mono its distinctive appearance.
The monospaced set includes two styles—Mono Book and Mono Book Oblique—each containing more than 740 glyphs. The OpenType feature set is identical to that of the core family. Stylistic sets ss01 and ss02 are also carried over from the standard-width styles, although the characteristic tails found in alternate letterforms have been extended in the monospaced designs.
Futura PT Mono also introduces a new alternative lowercase m, available through the ss03 stylistic set. Featuring a shortened middle stem, this variant improves readability in code and technical environments and was designed specifically with programmers and users working with code in mind.
