Happy October, Herry.

We're more than a little excited about Halloween. We've already stocked the candy bowl, planned our costumes – as well as costumes for our kids and/or dogs - and tracked down the best corn maze in the area.

We figured that you're gearing up, too, so wanted to focus this month's newsletter on tips for keeping your family safe and in sync when it's time to hit the road and trick-or-treat. Did we miss your go-to tip? Share your favorites in our Facebook community!

Take Us With You!

If your kids are old enough to not want you to be walking around with them on Halloween, you might find that Life360 is the perfect compromise. Check out these tips for a tech-friendly trick-or-treat:

  • Don't get caught with a dead battery! Charge those phone batteries before hitting the streets.
  • Make sure Location Services (AKA GPS and Wi-Fi) are active on each phone so everyone is visible on your map.
  • Use FamilyChannel messaging to chat with everyone in the family at once; makes coordinating meet-ups easy and fast!
  • Find more tips in the Life360 blog.

We know a thing or two families, but obviously you're the one who knows what's best for yours. Take a look at some of the best Halloween safety tips from other Life360 users.

"My daughter loves glow sticks and glow necklaces, so I load her up before sending her out trick or treating. They help increase visibility to drivers and other people out on the busy roads."

Carol C., Michigan

"We switched to face paint instead of masks, which can create blind spots and make it hard for our kids to see."

Ron H., Florida

"I have a strict rule: no eating candy before it's been checked by mom or dad! It's old-fashioned, but I want the chance to get rid of unwrapped or suspicious treats."

Suzanne R., Colorado

"Trick or treating in a group is fun and gives me peace of mind, so parents in my neighborhood enforce a trick-or-treat buddy system, and encourage the older kids to make sure no one gets left behind."

Lisa K., California

"Costumes make kids clumsy! I'm a fan of the trial run – or several of them – so that my sons are comfortable getting around on the big night. There's no way to slow them down on Halloween, and we learned our lesson the hard way from clunky robots and too-long Obi Wan robes."

Kate W., Missouri
